  • News On nugget and Daniel

Well nuggets made a huge difference to all our lifes.
I cant explain but Daniel's been so alive.Daniel
gets things he has to do like getting dressed quicker
and has started to enjoy life in the garden.
Nugget was 5 months old when we got him and he has been
fantastic on the house training side of things.
only a few accidents and that was the second day.
he tells us now when he needs toilet. Nugget has settled
in to be part of the family very well.
He has taken a like-ing to the garden pots and nibbled on
just about everything he can get too.
The amazing thing is he has not chewed one thing in-side apart
from his bones and dog toys.
He loves chasing his tail something Daniel thinks is very funny.
He really is the best dog in the world.
Nugget misses Daniel while he is at school and gives Daniel
big licks and kisses when he arrives home.
    Nugget is very gentle.
Although its only been 10 days its as if Nugget has always been here.
Now If only i could get Nugget to wipe his feet on the way in >
thank god for wooden flooring ..haha .

    hope this finds everyone well.

Some news on the school front.
have got to take Daniel to visit a school when they break up for the holidays
. its in the next county so has different holidays and will be
    open still.
Waiting to hear as well about a panel meeting at another school .
Fingers crossed that the school were are visiting with Daniel will be the school he goes too.
we have already been there but Daniel has not.And they have asked to meet with Daniel.

PLease also see my video below about support dogs for people with Autism.
You could write your Mp by email and make a big difference.

    Thanks

as you see nugget who has been with us since saturday has made
    a huge difference to Daniel.
but even if he was a fully trained support Dog having Autism means
unlike being blind or disabled he would not be able to go in shops
or school where he would be most supportive.
    its wrong.
its time the uk goverment woke up to this and changed things.
Autism is a uk registered disabilty so whats going ON........
why is there no where to get such a trained dog.
no support dog / assistance dog  organizations in the Uk help people with Autism.
This must change .  NOW  !!!

  • Daniel And Nugget.

    Well it happened.
Nugget has arrived from his old home .
He is 5 months 0ld but still very puppy like in his behaviour.
He is very gentle and loves Daniel.
They made friends straight away and Daniel seems to feel he has a new purpose in life.
Nugget likes to sleep alot at the moment and Nuggets calmness seems to be rubbing off on Daniel.
Daniel has told us that Nugget is the best the dog in world and after living with nugget since his arrival i agree.
Nugget is off to the vets today to make sure he is ok. Daniel is at school and you can guess he wanted to stay at home.
So Daniel and Nugget will no doubt spend many years loving and helping each other .

  • Daniel And After Thomas And Assistance / support Dogs

    18/01/2007.

At christmas we watched a program called after Thomas.
    Our son watched it too,
Now Daniel has a phobia of dogs but since that program has decided that he likes certains dogs.
One being my mums dog. a beautiful gentle cross breed who gets on really well with Daniel.
She will sit by Daniel and Daniel will fuss her and love her for ages.
This is good as its learning him to not fear Dogs so much.
Now my mother in law has a dog too. its a 12 month old dashhound. i know thats not the way you spell it but it really is a dash hound.
it moves with such speed. this was a little bit much for Daniel to cope with but over the last few weeks he has slowly got used to it.
Now Daniel has decided his life will not be complete with out his own friend which of course he has decided has to be a dog like Thomas.
After some info finding and speaking to several people who have put a dog into the lives of their autistic children it seemed that it would be good thing.
So our lifes are about to be turned upside down with the new arrival of a 5 month old Golden retriever which Daniel says he wants to call nugget.
I will let everyone know how things go and how Daniel gets on with his new friend.
Now for any one that lives in the united kingdom i have a favour to ask.
Could you write or send an email to your local MP.
    About-----

AS you know we have guide dogs for the blind and for disabled people too.
but unlike some other countries we dont provide Support dogs to people who have ASD.
Many children and adults could benefit from dogs trained to helped them but in the united kingdom at present this does not happen.
If any one could find the time to ask there MP to ask why not when next in parliment this could help others who are all ready
    trying to change this.
Many people with ASD have had their lifes changed enourmously in Canada because of a support dog.

you can write to your MP free from this link.

    Many Thanks .
    Robin
