18/01/2007.

At christmas we watched a program called after Thomas.
Our son watched it too,
Now Daniel has a phobia of dogs but since that program has decided that he likes certains dogs.
One being my mums dog. a beautiful gentle cross breed who gets on really well with Daniel.
She will sit by Daniel and Daniel will fuss her and love her for ages.
This is good as its learning him to not fear Dogs so much.
Now my mother in law has a dog too. its a 12 month old dashhound. i know thats not the way you spell it but it really is a dash hound.
it moves with such speed. this was a little bit much for Daniel to cope with but over the last few weeks he has slowly got used to it.
Now Daniel has decided his life will not be complete with out his own friend which of course he has decided has to be a dog like Thomas.
After some info finding and speaking to several people who have put a dog into the lives of their autistic children it seemed that it would be good thing.
So our lifes are about to be turned upside down with the new arrival of a 5 month old Golden retriever which Daniel says he wants to call nugget.
I will let everyone know how things go and how Daniel gets on with his new friend.
Now for any one that lives in the united kingdom i have a favour to ask.
Could you write or send an email to your local MP.
About-----

AS you know we have guide dogs for the blind and for disabled people too.
but unlike some other countries we dont provide Support dogs to people who have ASD.
Many children and adults could benefit from dogs trained to helped them but in the united kingdom at present this does not happen.
If any one could find the time to ask there MP to ask why not when next in parliment this could help others who are all ready
trying to change this.
Many people with ASD have had their lifes changed enourmously in Canada because of a support dog.

you can write to your MP free from this link.
